ArtPrize Tilt-Shift

If you live in Michigan you should know by now what ArtPrizeĀ® is. The huge event and “social experiment” of Grand Rapids entrepreneur Rick DeVos, ArtPrize is in its Sophomore outing, showcasing art from all around the globe. I missed much of ArtPrize last year due to school and bad weather, but living downtown I wanted to soak up as much as possible.

1,713 Artists – 192 Venues – 19 Days

In a nutshell, ArtPrize is phenomenal and the level of energy and attention it has brought to Grand Rapids has been great. Even Kathy Lee gave us a shout-out on the Today Show… So for my next fun video project I wanted to utilize the “tilt-shift” effect that has become popular recently in both photography and video. I figured ArtPrize would be the perfect event to cover for the project.

I basically covered most of downtown, from as many vantage points as I could get access to. Rooftops, bridges, and parking garages were my primary shooting locations, and my focus was all of the action of ArtPrize below me. I tried to incorporate some of the most significant venues and some of my personal favorite pieces from around town.

Check out this video I put together and let us know what you think! Share with your friends!

Love it. It is sweet how it makes all the people and GR look like toys. Also, very cool that you captured some of the artists while at work. If this was Facebook, I would “like.”
